Galerie BAQ proudly presents artist Richie Nath for the group exhibition Against the Tide: Myanmar Art in the Moment at Karin Weber Gallery, for their London debut.

Nath's paintings, titled Where Are You? and Must I Go On Pretending, challenge conventional notions of Myanmar identity by infusing queer identities into traditional folklore. With a background in fashion illustration from the London College of Fashion, Nath's work reflects his personal experiences growing up in Yangon, commenting on Myanmar society and politics. Currently residing in Paris, France, Nath's art offers a unique perspective on modern life in Myanmar, standing resilient amidst societal challenges.

The exhibiton curated by Melissa Carlson features work by nine of Myanmar’s leading modern and contemporary artists: Aung Myint, Htein Lin, Khin Thethtar Latt (Nora), Min Zaw, Nan Da, Richie Nath, Sandar Khine, Soe Yu Nwe and Thynn Lei Nwe. The artists, spanning a range of generations, all use their work to reflect on their surroundings, standing resilient in the face of many political, economic, and social challenges, re-examining who and what can represent Myanmar today.
