Galerie BAQ is pleased to accompany The Outpost in the showcase of the series Hồn Xiêu-Phách Lạc (Lost Souls - Wandering Spirits) (2017 - present) by the artist Nguyễn Duy Mạnh, as part of the exhibition Becoming Alice: Through the metal tunnel.

Becoming Alice: Through the metal tunnel is the second exhibition introducing artworks in The Outpost Collection, inspired by the magic of imagination casted by English novelist Lewis Carroll in his famed literary work, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. On a spring day, through The Outpost’s metal tunnel, the viewers are invited to “become Alice” upon entering a strange journey with countless playful characters and bizarre scenarios.

The story of Alice is widely understood to connote the transition from the innocence of youth into the confusing and (perhaps) more fascinating world of adulthood. In that spirit, the curatorial team follows clues from the multi-layered social context in which the works were created to search for a broader landscape of ideas, materials, expressions and emotions.

Featuring works by 13 artists: Trần Văn Thảo, Đỗ Hoàng Tường, Nguyễn Sơn, Nguyễn Thanh Trúc, Hà Mạnh Thắng, Võ Trân Châu, Đỗ Thanh Lãng, Dương Thùy Dương, Hoàng Thanh Vĩnh Phong, Lý Trần Quỳnh Giang, Lê Hoàng Bích Phượng, Nguyễn Duy Mạnh and Quỳnh Đông, after Stratum Zero, Becoming Alice: Through the metal tunnel exhibits a different side of The Outpost Collection, one that is perhaps more lyrical and bizarre in its formation. If you were asked to be Alice in this exhibition, what would you see?

P/s: the exhibition is extended until 21 April 2024
